What we treat
Adult Mental Health Conditions We Work With
Strata Outpatient is an adult mental health practice in Sorrento Valley, San Diego. Below is what our programs are built for — each one has a page of its own. Not sure whether what you are going through fits? A short call is the quickest way to find out — (858) 567-4246.

-
Anxiety
Worry that does not switch off, a body that stays braced, decisions that get harder to make. Anxiety responds well to structure and to skills practiced often enough to become automatic — which is what group work three mornings a week is for.
-
Depression
Flatness, exhaustion, the slow withdrawal from the things that used to matter. Our curriculum works through behavioral activation and cognitive work, and a prescriber is in the building if medication becomes part of the picture.
-
Trauma and PTSD
What happened does not stay in the past; it shows up in sleep, in relationships, in how safe a room feels. We run Seeking Safety as a dedicated trauma curriculum rather than treating trauma as background to something else.
-
Adjustment disorder
A reaction to something real — a loss, a diagnosis, a move, an ending — that has outgrown what you can carry alone. Often shorter work, and often the point at which a few weeks of structure is worth more than a year of coping.
-
Bipolar disorder
Managing bipolar disorder usually means therapy and medication working together rather than separately. Here your prescriber and your therapist are colleagues in the same practice, reading the same record.
-
Life transitions
Divorce, bereavement, a career ending, becoming a caregiver, a move that changed more than the address. Not every hard season is a diagnosis, and not every hard season should be faced alone.
How we treat them
Three services, built to work together rather than in parallel. Which combination fits is part of what the initial assessment is for.
- Intensive Outpatient Program — clinician-led groups three mornings a week, with a weekly individual session included.
- Medication management — a psychiatric evaluation and regular follow-up, inside the program or on its own.
- Individual therapy — a private hour with your own clinician.
What we do not treat
Worth saying plainly, because the wrong level of care costs people time they do not have.
- Substance use treatment and medical detox
- Eating disorder treatment
- Residential and inpatient care
- Anyone needing round-the-clock supervision
- Children and adolescents — we work with adults 18 and older
- Couples, family and child therapy
If that is what you need, say so on the first call and we will provide appropriate referrals, so you get the care that fits rather than the care we happen to offer.
If you are in crisis, do not wait for an appointment.
Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. If there is immediate danger to life, call 911. Strata Outpatient is a scheduled outpatient clinic — not an emergency service, a crisis line, or a 24/7 provider.
